ENSEMBLE PLAYING
The recordings below are from my UNC Classical Guitar Ensemble.
The group is essentially a small chamber ensemble comprised only of guitars that play multi-part instrumental pieces in the same way a typical string quartet or other small chamber group would. I find that ensemble playing is a very valuable and important skill for guitarists. It teaches group interaction, listening skills, and attention to rhythm. For many electric guitarists playing in a “band” can help teach these things. However, for guitarists that play primarily “solo” music, taking part in an ensemble (of any type) is very beneficial.
